Halton Region is currently developing a Solid Waste Management Strategy to enhance the waste management system for single-family households, multi-residential households and businesses. The proposed Strategy includes medium and long-term initiatives which will help:

  • increase the amount of waste diverted from landfill by up to 68 per cent;
  • extend the landfill lifespan to the year 2070;
  • reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 13,020 tonnes annually in the region; and
  • enhance waste management and landfill operations.

We want to hear from you! The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete. Please provide your responses by December 10, 2021.

The input collected through this survey will be used to:

  • determine the level of community support for six proposed initiatives that will most impact waste management programs and services for Halton residents;
  • determine overall support for the Strategy; and
  • inform the proposed Solid Waste Management Strategy, including how our programs and services will contribute to continued environmental sustainability.

We are also collecting your suggestions for other ways to increase waste diversion, extend the lifespan of the Halton landfill site and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
